Arrangement

Make sure about that everything is completely written and discussed before the recording starts. Make sure that everybody knows what to do, don’t waste your time with figuring out things on the fly.

Whenever it’s possible, know the tempo and tuning of the song.

Don’t stricltly stick with your ideas. If you hear that something is not working together, just leave it out, it’s not a shame. These are only general tips, but you might want to avoid long intos, long bridges, long guitar solos, etc. The listeners can easily loose their attention from these, and won’t listen to your song after it.

And never forget the golden rule: Less is more!
